Thanksgiving at Home

Since this is my first post, I thought I'd make it a personal one, and where better to begin than Thanksgiving? Typically, Thanksgiving for us looks like a large gathering, food served buffet-style because there's not an inch of table space to spare. But it's been a couple of years now since we've gathered with the extended family, so for the second year in a row, I took on the cooking duties and prepared Thanksgiving dinner for a much smaller crowd.

Small crowd or not, it's still a LOT of work! This year, Andy stepped in for turkey duty which left me some time to bake the pie. A baker I am most certainly not...I usually outsource the dessert, but I have to say, it turned out okay! All of dinner did, in fact. Of course the most important part is never the food, it's the company and mine is top notch (even if one of us did turn her tiny nose up at everything on the table in favor of a corn dog).

We spent the rest of the weekend choosing our tree and getting the house ready for Christmas. After a tough week personally, it was really refreshing to have some time away from work and all of life's other responsibilities and take in the start of the holiday season with my family.
